- 1. How do we register for classes? Please come register at the school. We enjoy meeting you. Fill out the form and you can even start the same day!
- 2. How much does it cost? The class costs $22.00 for 30 minutes and is given one-to-one (private lessons). Private lessons enable a more personalized approach.
- 3. Are there any scholarships or ways to encourage the students? We offer 9 scholarships in three categories. Everyone gets a chance!
- 4. How many teachers does the school have? We have about 30 teachers to fit any learning style.
- 5. Which instruments do you teach? Piano, Keyboard, Violin, Drums, Guitar (acoustic and electric), Bass Guitar, Ukelele, Voice, Clarinet, Flute, Acccordeon, Saxophone, Trumpet and Song Composition. Something for any taste!
- 6. What is the registration fee? There is a $30.00 registration fee per family to join our school.
- 7. Do students pay the registration fee every year? No. As long as the student maintains an active status, it is paid once.
- 8. Do you prepare for competitions? Yes! Each year we have over 160 students participating in competitions across the province.
- 9. Do you prepare for uniform Royal Conservatory of Music exams? Yes. Our teachers are qualified and know the ins and outs of the program.
- 10. Can I rent an instrument? How much does it cost? Yes! Renting costs $36.00 per month if you do not want to commit to buying an instrument right away.
- 11. Do you have books? Yes. All teaching materials are conveniently available at the school. Quebec Music School gets preferential pricing which is passed onto its students!
- 12. Are there group classes? Yes. There are two group lessons: music theory and music initiation for young children (2-5 years).
- 13. Are there classes for toddlers? Yes. Music Initiation classes are designed to give your child a positive and amusing first experience with music.
- 14. Is there a choir or ensemble? Yes, there is an ensemble of violists. We are working on a choir.
- 15. Do you give tax receipts? Yes. Parents of our musicians can get a tax credit up to $500 per child per school year by enrolling in music lessons. The government realizes how important music education is, and parents can get a relief.
- 16. Will the students get prizes and medals? Yes. Each year our students bring back over 120 medals from different sources: interprovincial competitions, uniform music exams, and scholarships. We are proud of our medalists and we enjoy every step of their journey.
- 17. When should the payment be done? Payment is required at the beginning of the month.
- 18. If the student could not come, is there a refund? We understand, life can get hectic! We require a notice in case of an absence. We will then attempt to reschedule the class at no additional cost to the student. The lesson will not be refunded, but rescheduled.
- 19. Do you give make-up lessons? Yes. It is to the school’s discretion and depends on the teacher’s availability. Maximum of 3 per year.
- 20. Can I change teachers? Yes. We will do what it takes to make your experience enjoyable.
- 21. How far in advance do you have to advise of an absence? As soon as possible, minimum 4 hours is required. Otherwise, the lesson cannot be made-up.
- 22. If I refer a friend, do you give any discounts? Yes. Please see the secretary for more info.
- 23. Do you have theory classes? Yes. All levels and ages.
- 24. How many days a week you are open? We open 6 days a week and we plan to work on Sundays.
